Winner of the Big Screen Competition at IFFR, the film follows a socialist schoolteacher whose electoral victory in rural Bangladesh gives way to political compromise, exposing the corrosive machinery of power and bureaucracy. 

Having framed his first two features as seaside holiday films, Rozier used the third, The Castaways of Turtle Island, to mock the tourist industry in a hilarious comic send-up that could only have emerged from Rozier’s puckish imagination.
