International Competition: We seize only a bit of the curtain that hides the infinite from us
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Listen To the Beat of our Images, dir. Audrey Jean-Baptiste & Maxime Jean-Baptiste, French Guiana 2021, 15 min.

The haunting past reassembles itself, sometimes with permission, at times without. A former student, a father, a young woman and a young man wrangle with a history that intends to reveal and expose lingering dilemmas. Sometimes to seek the unknown, at times, in rediscovering the familiar.

This selection of International Shorts, programmed by Qila Gill, showcases new filmmaking from Singapore, Greece, Philippines, Tanzania and French Guiana. Colonial histories, superstition, global financial crises and personal testimony; these myriad perspectives contain arresting and beautiful images.
