The second of three reading groups hosted by Verso, this intimate evening holds an invitation to dive deeply into Georgina Voss’s exploration of the complex systems in which we live. Her book, Systems Ultra explores the mesh of things, people, and ideas interacting to produce their own patterns and behaviours. Drawing on her own field research and artistic practice, Georgina Voss argues that complex systems can be approached as sites of revelation around scale, time, materiality, deviance, and breakages.

Verso Books is the largest independent, radical publishing house in the English-speaking world, publishing one hundred books a year. For this season, they invite three of their authors to host an intimate reading group in the ICA studio, to explore and unpack some of today’s most urgent issues.

Georgina Voss is a writer, artist, and researcher. Her writing has been published widely including in the Atlantic, Guardian, Harvard Design Magazine, and MIT Press. Her installation and performance work has been commissioned and shown at institutions including transmediale, Akademie Schloss Solitude, STUK, Design Museum, and Tate Modern.
