GLUE: Book Fair and Creative Programme

Using a photographic backdrop inspired by the North and West African tradition of studio portraiture, Sana Badri set up a makeshift studio in the empty ‘Plot 9’ in Shepherd's Bush Market.

Taking portraits of traders, shoppers, and community members, she captures the thriving community at the heart of a market that has been running for over 100 years. Facing uncertain futures due to new redevelopment plans, the portraits are moments of celebration and joy against the precarity of ongoing gentrification across London.
