Following the close of his Shakespeare series, Argentine filmmaker Matías Piñeiro wrestles with new inspirations as he crafts an adaptation and transformation of Sea Foam, a chapter from Cesare Pavese’s Dialoghi con Leucò published in 1947.
In Sea Foam Pavese paints a picture of the ancient Greek poet Sappho and the nymph Britomartis meeting beside the sea to discuss love and death. Drawing from the fragmentary nature of Saphho's poetry and the connections that unite these three figures, Piñeiro embarks upon a journey through the gaps, footnotes and detours of these histories. At turns playful and melancholic, Tú me abrasas is a ceaselessly inventive and profoundly moving exploration of love and death, creativity and desire.
