WORKSHOP
i want to tend the Earth for you
Institute of Contemporary Arts
i want to tend the Earth for You (2025), Džiuginta Mažulytė

Book tickets

How do we nurture ecology? How do we embody cycles of growth within ourselves and the environment? What does it mean to adjust our compass in this moment?

This gathering invites deep listening, unfolding through writing, somatic movement and film to explore renewal, growth, and our relationship with nature. Rooted in the etymology of ecology – oîkos (home) and logía (knowledge) – this workshop is grounded in nature writing, guided journaling prompts, and a “cycle of a seed” movement journey. The event will close with a screening of i want to tend the Earth for you (By Džiuginta Mažulytė), followed by reflection, shared responses, and collective callings for hope.

Held on a day of layered spiritual significance, this workshop aligns with the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, the Amavasya (New Moon) in the Hindu tradition, and, according to some lunar calculations, the start of Ramadan. It is often felt as a threshold moment, a time for letting go, beginning again, and setting intentions for growth that is both brave and alive.

This workshop is facilitated by ICA Creatives Džiuginta Mažulytė, Bilge Nur Yilmaz and collaborator, Fi.

No prior experience in writing or movement is necessary to attend.
Bios
Džiuginta Mažulytė is a Lithuanian artist based in London with a background in Psychology. Her practice explores the intra-action of homo sapiens and nature. Deeply interested in eco-somatics, she aims to transform personal and collective experiences into visual artworks. Mainly working with photography, Mažulytė attempts to shift the viewer’s gaze from an anthropocentric perspective towards the acknowledgment of the interconnectedness of all matter. Significantly inspired by the more-than-human, her experimentations leak into digital, analogue and alternative processes. Her work can be found in the archives of PhotoVogue, Photo-Canopy, Insights of an Eco Artist, and Lakeside Darkroom-Bow Arts.

Bilge Nur Yilmaz is an interdisciplinary artist, composer and performer based in London - working under the moniker Tendertwin. Her practice explores the somatic and ecological dimensions of sound, language and movement; tracing how bodies carry memory, landscape and belongings. Drawing from folk traditions, contemporary composition and embodied research, her work shifts listening from purely auditory towards the felt, the spatial and the relational. This invites audiences into states of attentiveness where inner and outer ecologies meet. Her debut EP Ship Argo (2024), a cycle of songs on myth and becoming, was supported by BBC 4 an BBC 6 Music, and through residencies at Britten Pears Arts, Roundhouse and Sound and Music.

Fi is a freelance dance artist, actor, filmmaker, movement director & choreographer from Gloucestershire, now based in London. They trained at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and their professional experience spans stage and screen.

Live performance credits include; ICA, Kings Place, The BRIT Awards - O2 Arena, The Horse Hospital, End of the Road festival, Göteborgsoperan and London Fashion Week. Fi’s digital work can be seen in publications such as Moves Magazine with ECHO (as performer and choreographer) and Everything Else is Memory (choreographed by Alexandra Green) platformed on NOWNESS. Fi has danced in multiple feature films, with Sense and Sensibility (choreographed by Holly Blakey) and The Roots Manoeuvre (choreographed by Benoit Swan-Pouffer) both set to release in 2026. Fi is currently working on the experimental short film DEER, which marks their directorial debut.
