ICA Creatives

These workshops will be led by InnerSwell, a project by Laima Leyton and Lexi Morvaridi that uses sound to tell stories, explore politics, bring people together, and develop supportive communities. In these workshops, participants will work on a sound piece, learning about deep listening, how to develop stories through sound, sound recording, and using synths.
InnerSwell is a project by artists Laima Leyton and Lexy Morvaridi, informed by the collective power of community activism, localised ‘real politics’ of empowerment, and support networks. It exists to amplify localised community work, offer experiences of the creative process, and empower people to create and develop narratives through sound. Exploring memory and sound, InnerSwell uses listening to develop the participants’ creative practice in whatever form it takes, extending beyond activities – such as music – into all realms of the creative arts.

Through the creation of an environment where ideas and stories can be formed and shared through discussion, crafting, collecting and generating sound, InnerSwell offers an accessible experience of the creative process, allowing participants to develop their own practice and build personal narratives through the medium of sound. InnerSwell works towards the production of outcomes tailored for each group.
