Smugglers Way is proud to present its first-ever label showcase at the ICA in conjunction with Eat Your Own Ears, featuring the debut performance from Ela Minus & Nick León, alongside sets from Alexis Taylor & Mike Simonetti and Guedra Guedra, celebrating a run of recent releases.
Born from years of mutual admiration and an instant creative kinship, Ela Minus and Nick León’s collaborative EP qué les pasó an mis amigos? captures two singular voices in electronic music finding common ground in uncertainty, connection, and emotional survival. Across qué les pasó an mis amigos?, Minus and León channel heartbreak, fractured friendships, disillusionment, and perseverance into a collection of songs that are melancholic yet relentlessly in motion.
Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip and producer Mike Simonetti—founder of Troubleman Unlimited and Italians Do It Better, and one-half of Pale Blue— joined forces this year for a new collaborative EP on Smugglers Way. The release pairs a transcendent cover of Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s “I See A Darkness” with the luminous original “Perfect Kiss.” Together, Taylor and Simonetti have crafted a release that feels both unexpected and inevitable–a bold first statement from a collaboration that leaves plenty of room for what might come next.

Guedra Guedra is the electronic music project of Moroccan producer Abdellah M. Hassak. His latest LP MUTANT is a dazzling compound of visionary electronics and musical traditions drawn from across the continent of Africa. Abdellah blends analogue synths and drum machines, with field recordings from Morocco, Tanzania, Guinea and more, gathered while traveling across the vast landmass. Discogs hailed it as “one of the year’s most forward-thinking dancefloor records.”
