minus one is a monthly late-night series curated by DJs, artists and nightlife communities. Experimenting with different configurations in the ICA Theatre, this series takes a DIY approach, hybrid in format with a focus on both dancing and listening together.

Basic Rhythm / Anthoney Hart (Musique Nocturne, Type, Planet Mu) grew up on the boundary of East London and Essex, playing jungle and drum & bass on pirate radio in the mid-nineties, most notably Rude FM. In 2014 he started the Basic Rhythm alias, drawing directly upon his pirate radio years, while still pushing forward into new territories, eventually coming full circle back to jungle and drum & bass. He runs the Musique Nocturne record label.

Releasing music since his teens, Tim Reaper (Future Retro, Circadian Rhythms, Lobster Theremin) has been a pivotal figure in the formation of the contemporary jungle scene in London and beyond. He runs the label and club night Future Retro in Peckham, releasing music from the likes of Equinox, FFF, Coco Bryce & more – inaugurated with the collaborative series Meeting Of The Minds.

Jack Stevens aka Sully (Astrophonica, Black Acre, Over/Shadow) has become something of a cult figure in the music scene, with his output being in high demand and rotated heavily. His work is unmistakably rude – always true to its origins while simultaneously adding new takes and juxtapositions in palette and composition. A true artist that excels in his field.

Growing up in and around the rave scene in Essex, Klaar (Knives) is known for eclectic selections which take root in this very spirit – infusing ambience, noise, jungle and grime. He operates the record label and publishing project Knives along with Kuedo, which has put out material from Jlin, D’Eon & Deforrest Brown Jr. among many others.

Winston Duke is a multidisciplinary visual artist from East London. His photography draws upon the human condition: the constant flux between forces – giving his photos a dream-like quality, submerged in a world disconnected and surreal. As an animator, Duke gives digital textures a hand-drawn feel which ebb and flow with a rhythmic heartbeat.
