What to expect

The event will take place in the ICA Theatre which is a large black box space. The floor will be a soft, irregular landscape of cushioned mounds where the audience is invited to spend the night, lie down and rest. Lighting levels will be low and theatrical haze will be used.

The event will feature a series of sound, poetry and movement performances by ten artists. The performances will vary in sound levels and intensity throughout the night, and audiences, while encouraged to stay for the 8-hour duration, are welcome to come and go from the space as they require.

We invite the audience to take off their shoes before entering the space, and there will be an area to leave your shoes outside the Theatre. The space may get chilly overnight, so we encourage you to bring warm and comfortable layers. Please note that there is no cloakroom for this event and the audience is discouraged from bringing large bags.

Timings

The event will begin at 10pm and the performance will end at 6am. Last entry to the ICA is at 2am. The building will remain open until 7.30am for those who wish to wake slowly and leave with the dawn.

Bar

The bar will be serving tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks – alongside our regular drinks menu – until 5am. We ask that you don’t bring your own food with you, but please do bring a refillable water bottle and keep cup for hot drinks if you wish.

Support & Staffing

As this event takes place during night-time hours, and in part encourages audiences to rest or even fall asleep, we will have a Welfare Officer from queer led security company ‘Safe Only’ present throughout the night. They will be there to support should anyone feel uncomfortable or unwell. There will be ICA staff wearing lanyards should you need to ask anyone for further information.
