Abondance Matanda is a 23-year-old Londoner who has been writing poetry for six years. Her authentic colloquial voice provides a commentary on and interrogation of contemporary inner-city life and culture. Abondance is inspired by being raised and coming of age in the 21st century, dissecting aspects of her identity and lived experience, including girlhood, language and blackness, from a working-class hood perspective.

Kareem Parkins-Brown is a writer and visual artist. He is a proud Northwest Londoner, Barbican alumnus and won the Roundhouse Poetry Slam in 2019. His latest endeavour is a show called Do Nitties Live Forever, commissioned by the Battersea Arts Centre, an ode to his estate before they finish knocking it down. He was shortlisted for Young People’s Laureate for London one time and the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship in 2019. His work concerns hood life circa 2005 – present day.

Latekid is a producer, vocalist, writer and photographer hailing from Southeast London. Latekid uses music and poetry as the foundation for his work – taking influence from experimental hip hop jazz, UK rap, electronica, trap and indie. His producing debut ‘WOODWORK’ for Avenhue became BBC Introducing East Record of the Week, playlisted on BBC Radio 6, and played on the BBC Introducing set on BBC Radio 1. Latekid founded fwrdmtn*, an artistic collective made up of music artists, DJs, photographers, videographers, graphic designers and technicians. Latekid has performed at Boiler Room, Tate Modern, Bush Theatre, Roundhouse and The Jazz Café.

Olivia Douglass is a British-Nigerian writer and poet. They are the author of Slow Tongue, a verse/lyric-essay hybrid that responds to M. NourbeSe Philip’s She Tries Her Tongue Her Silence Softly Breaks. Their writing appears in publications including Bath Magg, Nothing Personal, Prototype 2, and they wrote the foreword for Away With Word vol.4. A Barbican Young Poets Alumna, Olivia has been commissioned by the National Poetry Library (London) and Galleria Duarte Sequeira (Portugal), alongside curating reading rooms for Passa Porta Festival (Brussels) and Nottingham Contemporary. They have held residencies with Talawa Theatre Company and Theatre Peckham, been shortlisted for the Rebecca Swift Foundation’s Women Poet Prize 2020, and in 2021 was longlisted for a Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship. Douglass’s writing is concerned with articulating alternative visions of liberated Black queer experiences, away from colonial frameworks. They are currently working on a debut poetry collection.
