Join members of NYX drone choir as they lead a workshop exploring the vocal embodiment practices used in their music making process. Explore what it means to move, listen and be heard – subsumed and supported by the collective voice.

This Sunday session will focus on connecting and grounding through movement, breath and voice. NYX will explore themes of sonic reciprocity, coming into deeper states of listening and connection to the world around us through our sounding bodies.

The day will encourage relaxation and imagination, creating deep winter dronescapes together through collective singing, toning and vocal visualisations.

This work is open to all – from people who have never sung in public to seasoned professionals. NYX invite you to this space of freedom from expectations and judgement into collective resonance.

Tea and refreshments will be provided.

NYX workshops include physical work; there may be periods of instructed standing but you are welcome at any point, to navigate the space at your own pace, including sitting on the floor or chairs or leaving the space. Please get in touch with any access requirements we can support with.
NYX embodies live electronics, drone and ecstatic choral sound, testing the limits of organic and synthetic modulation to explore the entire spectrum of collective voice as an instrument. NYX are a self-managed collective that have performed at London Design Festival, London Fashion Week, Hyde Park, Pompidou Centre, Rewire Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Kings Place, EARTH, Barbican, Dark Mofo Festival among other festivals and venues. With visceral compositions by Sian O’Gorman, their music responds to the human body, architecture and nature, enhanced by spatial sound design with partners Ableton, D&B Audio, MONOM Sound and sound therapy provider, Wavepaths. NYX work to translate live connection and vocal embodiment in their recorded music, demonstrated in Deep England, a collaborative album with Gazelle Twin, recognised in the Guardian’s top ten contemporary albums for 2020, as recipients of Film London’s Breakthrough Talent Award in 2021 and as collaborators on the Diablo IV Official Soundtrack, recorded at Abbey Road Institute Angel Studios.
