Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin (2013) is a haunting, enigmatic film based on Michel Faber’s novel that follows an unnamed woman, played by Scarlett Johansson, as she moves through the streets of Scotland, drawing men into a mysterious and unsettling world.

Blending science fiction, psychological drama and experimental cinema, the film conjures an immersive atmosphere aided by Mica Levi’s unsettling score and invites endless interpretations.

Utterly free-thinking, its fragmented narrative, ambiguity and unconventional visual language leave questions deliberately unanswered, inviting us to consider ideas around identity, humanity, desire, isolation and what it means to see the world through another perspective.
