The Hard Stop + Q&A (10th Anniversary)
Institute of Contemporary Arts
The Hard Stop, dir. George Amponsah, UK 2015, 85 min. 15.

Book tickets

A special screening of the BAFTA and BIFA nominated documentary The Hard Stop, marking ten years since its release. The film examines the aftermath of the 2011 riots following the police shooting of Mark Duggan, an unarmed Black man killed by the Metropolitan Police during a “hard stop” manoeuvre in Tottenham, North London.

Director George Amponsah follows two of Duggan’s childhood friends from Broadwater Farm over a two-year period, as they navigate the personal and political fallout of the shooting and the unrest that followed.

After the screening, stay for a Q&A with director George Amponsah and producer Dionne Walker, joined by on-screen participants Marcus Knox Hooke, Kurtis Henville, and Stafford Scott. Together they’ll reflect on the past decade and ask: has Britain moved forward?
