The Sweet East
Institute of Contemporary Arts
The Sweet East, dir. Sean Price Williams, USA 2023, 104 min.

Lillian, a high school senior from South Carolina, gets her first glimpse of the wider world on a class trip to Washington, D.C. Separated from her schoolmates, she embarks on a fractured road trip in search of America. Along the way, she falls in with a variety of strange factions, each living out their own alternative realities in our present day.

The debut feature from acclaimed cinematographer Sean Price Williams is a picaresque journey through contemporary America.

The screenings on 9 and 10 April will be shown on 35mm.

The ICA is delighted to present a special preview screening of The Sweet East on Sunday 10 March followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Sean Price Williams, writer Nick Pinkerton, and actors Earl Cave and Rish Shah.
