In a Cairo once alive with the promise of change, now haunted by memory, a heartbroken doctor and his troubled friend drift through the city’s decaying streets and abandoned homes. Bahaa, numbed by loss, is visited by Mahdy, whose hair sprouts mint leaves—an eerie side effect only hashish can suppress. As Mahdy’s supply runs dry, the two men embark on a surreal journey through haunted spaces scented with grief and longing, searching for solace among the ghosts of their past. 

Marking the directorial debut of Emmy-winning cinematographer Muhammed Hamdy (The Square), Perfumed with Mint is a visually arresting, poetic meditation on memory, trauma, and the quiet desperation of a generation caught between remembrance and release.

The ICA presents the UK Premiere followed by an in-person Q&A on Friday 27 June.
