From the great fabulist Mariano Llinás, producer, writer, director and actor of Extraordinary Stories and La Flor, comes an equally unconventional and freewheeling trilogy of films centred upon Argentine art-collective Mondongo.
Invited by ArtHaus Central in Buenos Aires to make a film about Mondongo and to document their creation of a baptistry out of colourful plasticine, Llinás quickly grows restless and the collaboration begins to go off the rails. Taking Johannes Itten’s seminal study of color theory from 1961, the source of Mondongo’s work, as the inspiration for his own poetic and comedic flights of fancy, Llinás sets about beating the artists at their own game.
