In an unnamed European city around the middle of the last century, a middle-aged man named Albert (Paul Hilton) keeps watch over a young girl named Mia (Romane Hemelaers). Confined to her apartment, Mia has dentures made of ice, which Albert must fit for her every day. Time passes, and a man rings to ask after the young girl. And then one day, Albert is told that he must prepare the child to leave.
