Julián Hernández’s Raging Sun, Raging Sky is an erotic journey through the hidden spaces of cruising. In a city where water becomes a portal between the everyday and the mythic, Kieri, Ryo and Tari drift through rainy alleys and leaking bathrooms and cinemas. A mysterious female spirit known as the “Heart of the Sky” hovers over their encounters, guiding their shifting affections.
Alternating between black and white and colour, Hernández recalls the poetic homoeroticism of Jean Genet’s Song of Love, transforming cruising grounds into spaces where loneliness finds release through communal encounter. Longing looks and sexual embraces oscillate between sensuality and violence before giving way to increasingly dreamlike and spiritual realms.

Nico Hughes is an MA student in Film Studies, Programming and Curation at the National Film and Television School. His curatorial practice concerns cinema as an embodied experience, highlighting transgressive and underseen works across melodrama, erotica and artist film, with a particular specialism in Spanish-language cinema.
