Owulide, dir. Cassandra Kyeyune, UK 2021, 5 min. 39 sec.

In the wake of her academic success, Rita tries to come to terms with her conflicting feelings about what lies ahead for her future. Armed with a calling card and the memory of a language she understands but cannot speak fluently, she summons up the courage to call her Jajja, in the hope of reassurance. Across the shore, and overjoyed by her granddaughter's achievements, Jajja lovingly helps piece together her broken words.

From London to Kampala, we bear witness to a touching and heartwarming tale of a family, navigating life's uncertainties, the loss of a mother tongue and the enduring bonds that unite them.
