These workshops will focus on poetry-writing, with a digital element. Working with poets Oshanti Ahmed and Fathima Zahra, the group will learn poetry writing, editing, and performance skills, working together on the creation of a digital publication. While everyday life in 2023 can be lonely (with social media providing constant stimulation but not always connection), participants in this workshop will explore how collective writing can transform our connections with each other both on and off the internet.
Oshanti Ahmed is a Bengali poet by way of South London. Her work looks at how we survive hostile environments of language, race and austerity and International trauma by suspending it from reality. She is alumnus of Southbank’s New Poets Collective 2022/2023, Barbican collective 2021/22, Roundhouse Poetry Collective 2018/19 and the Writing Room 2018/19. She has read across the UK and internationally including Brave New Voices, Brainchild Festival, Latitude and The Haye Festival, and had her work featured by The Poetry Society, BBC, Flipped Eye and Bath Mag.

Fathima Zahra (she/her) is an Indian poet based in London. She is a Barbican Young Poet and Roundhouse Poetry Collective alum. Her poems have won the Bridport Prize, Asia House Poetry Slam, Wells Fest Young Poets Prize. She has performed at festivals across the country including The Haye Festival, Latitude and Last Word. Sargam / Swargam is her debut pamphlet.
