Key safety information
We have worked hard to ensure that the ICA is a Covid-safe venue, and have followed all the safety and hygiene measures set out in the latest government directives to make our building as safe as possible. It should go without saying that to everyone here at the ICA, the health and safety of our visitors and staff are of paramount importance.
We’ve put together a brief guide to the changes we’ve made in response to Covid-19 – along with the advice and regulations you should follow when you visit. In particular, please note that if you are able to do so, you must wear a face covering at all times within the building.
Thank you for your patience and support during this challenging year. We can’t wait to see you again.
Throughout the building
Contactless hand sanitiser units and bottled hand sanitiser are available throughout the ICA – please use them regularly.
We’ve applied long-lasting anti-viral lacquer to all handles and other touch points, and will be cleaning and disinfecting surfaces regularly throughout each day.
We’ve installed directional signage and floor markers to manage visitor flow and ensure socially distanced queues – please follow all signage within the building.
We’ve installed safety screens on all cashier and information desks.
Cinema 1, Cinema 2 and Theatre
We’ve reduced the capacities in our cinema and theatre spaces, and both groups and individuals will be seated safe distances apart from one another. Please remain in the seat you have been directed to by our usher during each screening and performance.
We’ll disinfect our cinemas in between every screening and performance, and have allowed extra time between screenings to do so.
Exhibition spaces
We’ll stagger entry into and through our exhibition spaces to ensure safe distancing between visitors. Please follow the our staff’s guidance and directional signs throughout the exhibition spaces.
Box office
All our programme is ticketed – paid or free – including exhibitions, with the lead party members’ details being recorded for NHS Test and Trace.
We recommend booking tickets online in advance of entering the building to minimise box office interactions.
ICA Bookstore
Capacity in the Bookstore (and foyer / box office area) will be limited to 34 people or groups at any one time. Please be patient if you have to wait outside for other visitors to finish browsing.
Please use the disposable gloves provided if you want to handle any books or other products.
Café-bar and restaurant
We have spread the tables further apart to ensure each party is at least 1m apart. Please take care to observe social-distancing guidelines.
Patrons will be asked to provide your details for NHS Track and Trace.
Toilets
We will be cleaning the toilets regularly throughout each day.
We’ve replaced our traditional toilet soap dispensers with contactless electric versions.
