The London Nobody Knows & Momma Don’t Allow

8 Oct 201013 Oct 2010

A pair of idiosyncratic looks at a London that has long since vanished. British free cinema gem Momma Don't Allow (Dir Karel Reisz, Tony Richardson, UK 1955, 22 mins, Cert U) is a portrait of one night in a Wood Green jazz club in 1955. In The London Nobody Knows (Dir Norman Cohen, UK 1967, 53 mins), on-screen narrator James Mason takes us on a walking tour around the lesser-known corners of the capital.

Part of The Story of London.
