New Work brings together a diverse range of moving image and audio-visual works that make references to popular culture, while reminding us that many of our day-to-day preoccupations arise from the digital realm.
The selected works operate in a visual and aural language suspended in an uncanny digital world, offering an alternative to the traditions of artists' moving image while playfully testing the medium's boundaries. The title New Work is simultaneously an antagonistic gesture toward modes of production and the contemporary obsession with the new.
Building on the ICA's strong reputation for championing Artists' Film and Moving Image, New Work extends the gallery's programme to Sunday Art Fair.
Curated by Steven Cairns, Associate Curator of Artists' Film and Moving Image, and Matt Williams, Curator, ICA, London.
