(SYFU) is a collective of artists, writers and filmmakers who together investigate society's many inequalities through events, conversations, critical writing and exhibitions. Since 2016, SYFU have undertaken regular activities as Learning Associates at the ICA, organizing public and private events.
Black Drift is an ongoing project of SYFU, formed in part as a call and response to the notion of 'derive'. The concept of a Black Drift interrogates the architecture and geography in the surround of Black life. The project examines the subtle aesthetic and psychological contours of the historical presence of the African Diaspora that shape direction, the afro-future that beckons us as travellers through our city (is it our city? - and what of beyond the city?), and the navigation that such Black social life requires.
Join members of SYFU and friends for an intimate evening exploring notions of black sociality, surveillance, mapping, time and resistance.
