The Tibet Film Festival closes with the UK premiere of Dirk Simon’s When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun, preceded by a live performance by Damien Rice of the film’s title track. Blending art, music and stunning visuals, with an original soundtrack by Damien Rice, Thom Yorke and Philip Glass, When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun presents a powerful portrait of the Tibetan movement and its current contexts. Featuring Richard Gere, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama and a range of diverse voices from within the Tibetan exile community, this documentary examines the complexity of the struggle with great emotional impact. the screening is followed by a director Q&A. Jointly presented by day for night and Rocket Girl.
