Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg, Weiner, 2016

8 Jul 201621 Jul 2016

Anthony Weiner was a US congressman who resigned following a sex scandal. While he was attempting a comeback by running for New York mayor in 2013, it was revealed that he was still texting photos of his private parts to women he did not know. His forgiving wife, Huma Abedina former senior aide to Hillary Clintonmaintained a brave face when confronted by the women who refused to keep quiet about his behaviour.

Documentarians Elyse Steinberg and (former Weiner staffer) Josh Kriegman were already filming the handsome, charismatic and otherwise savvy Weiner’s apparent political rebirth when this new hell broke loose, and were able to carry on doing so with unprecedented access to his staff and family – with jaw-dropping consequences. Their film ultimately questions the true nature of political fidelity.
