Over the last two decades, creativity has become central in shaping urban cultures of work and labour. But what does the current era of austerity in the UK reveal about the political cultures and social divides accompanying this emphasis on creativity in the workplace? And what are the prospects for rethinking urban creative economies as radical social enterprise and reviving neglected values of craftsmanship and achievement?
Speakers include Anna Minton, journalist and author of Ground Control, Professor Fran Tonkiss, sociologist at LSE and specialist in globalization and gentrification, Mark Banks, specialist in the culture industries and sociologist at the Open University plus more to be announced.
