Terracotta Far East Film Festival: The Search For Weng Weng + Q&A

27 May 2014

Followed by a Q&A with director Andrew Leavold.

Director Andrew Leavold, former owner of Australia’s largest cult video rental store, turns detective and investigates forgotten Filipino superstar and diminutive James Bond, Weng Weng.

At only two foot nine inches tall, Weng Weng shot to fame in the 1980s as Agent 00 in Bond parody For Y’ur Height Only. On screen he was a top spy, a highly skilled martial arts expert, and sophisticated ladies man. But off screen, the story was different…

Featuring interviews with key actors and directors from the time and even a surreal appearance by 83 year old Imelda Marcos, Andrew’s documentary delves deep into the history of Pinoy action cinema. A ‘must see’ for all cult film aficionados who enjoyed Machete Maidens Unleashed, Not Quite Hollywood and Eurocrime!
