This world premiere will be introduced by director John Carver and followed by a DJ set in the ICA Bar and a live element to screen provided by the film's soundtrack composer Noel Watson
Starvecrow is the story of Ben and Jess. Ben is a control freak, a charmer, a warped product of the digital age. He films everything, everywhere. Jess is fresh out of rehab. Their worlds are dominated by each other but Jess needs some space and time apart. She's invited by her friends to their house in the woods for the weekend. People arrive and the party kicks off, but not everyone attending has been invited.
Universally acknowledged as the 'world’s first selfie movie', Starvecrow appears as an assembly of stolen smartphone and hacked CCTV footage. Improvised throughout, the actors play using their own names, contribute to their storylines and character development, filming themselves and each other using smartphones.
Starvecrow is a disturbing look at obsession, narcissism and complex relationships, where friendships and families are irreversibly broken. Not for the faint of heart.
Starvecrow, dir. John Carver, UK 2017, 84 mins
