Ruth Paxton is an impassioned young Scottish filmmaker and visual artist. Her work is heavily influenced by popular culture and has been celebrated for its surreal, unique and often humorous style.
Ruth’s films are bold and powerful and she has a unique way of visualising, stylising and capturing the intimacy and complexity of people and their stories. Her vision is a fearless examination of the seamy, sexy, scary and sad sides of life. Collaborative relationships with family, friends and fellow artists are essential to Ruth’s method and she thrives on returning to work with pal and muse, Kim Chapman, producer Rosie Crerar and brother Louis.
In this selection, Ruth showcases a selection of works that best portray her aesthetic and thematic agendas. There will be a Q&A following the screening.
