Poetry Session IV

Poetry Session IV

25 Jul 2017

Forms of collaboration and interdisciplinarity are central to In formation, and to the work of London-based poet James Massiah. For the fourth installation of his Poetry Sessions series, Massiah brings together an evening of poetry and electronic music. Born out of the 'The A & The E', a project Massiah began in 2012 as a forum for the discussion of philosophy and the arts, the sessions seek to challenge broad conceptions around poetics, through the intersection of language with music. The event will include readings by Hector Aponysus, Caleb Femi, James Massiah, Ella Rimmer, Isabel Yon and Belinda Zhawi, who will respond to sets from some of London's most progressive and exciting DJs and producers: Skinny Macho, Covco, Klein, Coby Sey, Xin, Maxwell Owin and Sandman.

James Massiah is a poet and DJ from South London who shares his work via 'The A & The E', exploring ideas about sexuality and ethics through performance, writing and visual media. He has been commissioned to produce work for the BBC, the Guardian, Britvic and Nike, as well as featuring in campaigns for Levi’s and Dr Martens. He has performed readings of his work at the Southbank Centre, Tate Modern, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the Houses of Parliament.
