Pasolini: Poetry & Politics: The Gospel According to Matthew

15 Sep 2015

The story of Jesus' life is well-known: the birth of Christ, the madness of Herod, the exile in Egypt, the return to Jerusalem. After persuading twelve fishermen to follow him, Jesus of Nazareth began to profess his truth, the desire for justice, the need for love and the hypocrisy of the rich.

In The Gospel According to Matthew, Pier Paolo Pasolini reveals the emotions that underlie this familiar story and demonstrates his ability to perfectly balance poetry and cinema. The Gospel According to Matthew represents a true landmark in Pasolini’s filmography.
