OXUS is an exciting, vibrant and accomplished string quartet from Oxford specializing in contemporary repertoire including orchestral, baroque, contemporary and jazz. Heather, Spike, Louise and Kate are all established performers individually who together strive to present unusual repertoire to audiences, by stripping away at some of the formality that chamber music performance can involve. In response to Pablo Bronstein’s Regency Box OXUS present a minimalist programme that chimes with the structure’s hushed dynamic and soporific conceit featuring works by Michael Torke and the influential Steve Reich.
Also present will be Gabriel Prokofiev representing Nonclassical, the record label and club night founded by Prokofiev and compatriots from the London-based composer/producer scene. Gabriel will DJ in the ICA Bar throughout the evening.
This event is part of a contemporary music sequence at the ICA on Thursday evenings – comprised of composed and improvised occasions with a conceptual twist.
