A radical horror film that follows a ragtag band of outsiders across the badlands of midwest America, with no aim other than to keep moving and survive.
They travel by night and sleep by day, which gives you some clue as to their true nature - although the crucial 'v' word itself is never spoken. Against this lawless backdrop director Bigelow sets a delicate and haunting love story, as well as staging a bar-room demolition that's one of the most terrifying and exhilarating setpieces ever constructed.
