Members' Screening: Damsels In Distress

22 May 2016

Greta Gerwig stars as Violet Wister, an East Coast university student who takes great offence at her campus’s grungy odour and outmoded patriarchal customs. With a trio of fellow female students, Violet sets about re-educating her male peers, only to fall into the predictable trap of youthful apathy when her boyfriend betrays her. Her girlfriends, too, it transpires, could do with learning a thing or two about the opposite sex. Damsels in Distress is a deadpan gem from Whit Stillman, an often-overlooked master of observational comedy.

Contains moderate sex references, language and suicide references.
