This drama recreates the final chapter in the life of Sophie Scholl, the 21-year-old student from Munich who became an anti-Nazi icon during World War II. The script's use of Gestapo documents and official minutes makes for a level of authenticity that increases the tension. Key to the film's power is Julia Jentsch (The Edukators), who gives a controlled performance full of quiet conviction.
