This screening is introduced by musician Stephen Thrower.
When Mark (Sam Neill), a spy, returns home after a discreet mission, he finds his wife Anna (Isabelle Adjani) going through a major nervous breakdown. Anna decides to take their young son and leave with her secret lover Heinrich (Heinz Bennent). Struggling to cope with his frustration, Mark hires a private investigator, only to discover Anna's increasingly disturbing behaviour... Is Anna's infidelity the only complication? For her unquestionably brilliant performance in Possession, Isabelle Adjani received both of the most important French awards, the Golden Palm and the César, in 1981 and 1982.
Possession, dir. Andrzej Żuławski, France/Germany 1981, 127 mins
