Kammer Klang / Christopher Fox

18 Feb 2011

Kammer Klang is a regular event and ever-changing collective of players marshaled by cellist Lucy Railton. Commencing with an introductory discussion from musicologist Christopher Fox, a very special extended Kammer Klang evening of activity take place in the ICA gallery - akin to those that regularly take place at London’s Vortex and Café Oto venues.

Christopher Fox hosts a talk offering the opportunity to consider the works chosen by the Kammer Klang players in more detail, expanding on the themes of the Live Weekend. There will also be a consideration of the work of current day composers such as Claudia Molitors, James Saunders and Matthew Shlomowitz. Performances of work by Earle Brown, John Cage and Morton Feldman will follow, in what promises to be a thoroughly engaging evening, including a piano recital of Feldman from Mark Knoop and the ‘cover me’ moniker of Kerry Yong, who reworks classics on a Casio keyboard.

For Live Weekend: Notation and Interpretation Lucy Railton of Kammer Klang will also provide contextual texts and visual stimuli throughout the ICA. There will also be an additional gallery performance from Serge Vuille (percussion) featuring the work of John Cage, Vinko Globokar and others on Saturday 19 February at 3pm .
