16 Apr 2007

In 1958, Isaac Deutscher wrote a book called The Non-Jewish Jew which explored how the Jewish Left should relate to Zionism and the State of Israel. A century after Deutscher's birth, four Jewish intellectuals confront the legacy of Deutscher's reflections today amid the clamorous politics of the Middle East.

Speakers include Moshe Machover, Professor of Philosophy, King's College London, John Rose, writer and activist and Michael Rosen, poet and writer. The participating chair is Lisa Appignanesi, novelist and writer, author of The Memory Man, Losing the Dead and signatory to Independent Jewish Voices.
