Thirty-six hours in the lives of the Beatles provide the basis for this 1964 musical comedy about four shaggy-haired lads from Liverpool. They dash in and out of railways, through London streets and into a TV recording studio - pursued by hordes of shrieking girls. In addition to singing eight numbers, John, Paul, George and Ringo have individual comedy scenes, including McCartney's interaction with his grandfather (Wilfrid Brambell), Lennon's bubble bath and Starr's adventures in the outside world.
A Hard Day's Night, dir. Richard Lester, UK 1964, 87 mins
