A light, laid-back comedy from hip production company Stylejam that cheerily defies categorisation, coming on like a Japanese Michel Gondry film. The central narrative focusses on two best friends - wannabe haunted-house entrepreneur Teruo and too-nice hospital administrator Hisanobu - and Akari, the clumsy young painter with whom the pair fall in love. Anything but direct, the film picks up stray characters and comic incidents along the way, building to an unexpectedly emotional pay-off. A real treat for fans of unpredictable, one-of-a-kind cinema.
