This stylish contemporary thriller stars Matthias Schoenaerts (Rust And Bone) as Vincent, a soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Having been placed on indefinite leave owing to his diagnosis, he takes work as a private security contractor at a lavish French villa. He is asked to guard the beautiful estate as well as Jessie, the wife of a wealthy businessman, and their young son Ali. Vincent becomes more and more convinced that the pair and the estate are the targets for unspecified, highly dangerous enemies. Are his fears of an impending attack rational? Director Alice Winocour brilliantly establishes a jittery paranoid style, mirroring her protagonist’s fractured state of mind. Astonishing sound design, a propulsive, atmospheric soundtrack from legendary French DJ Gesaffelstein, and a cool visual style are deployed to gradually ramp up the relentlessly building tension.
