We welcome director Sarah Turner for a discussion after the screening.
Will all of London be sold off to the highest bidder, or can a community make a difference? In 2012 in SE15, a local pub was given a few days notice of closure before it was to be turned into (more) flats. But local residents had the building listed, registered it as the UK’s first Asset of Community Value, and re-opened it as a venue for music, dance, Sunday roasts and much more besides. Celebrating the individual and cultural/social memory, Public House is deeply felt and multi-layered, combining documentary with an innovative soundtrack of performance poetry, ambient sound and collective voice.
