Out of Alignment - Katherine Fishman

Focusing on the act of regularly carrying a rucksack, the film centres around a bespoke workshop run by a trained physiotherapist. Participants learn how to pack and adjust their bags, rucksack posture and stretches aimed at strengthening and employing the correct muscles.

Katherine Fishman works with moving-image, writing and workshops around physical capacities that we have evolved to possess yet tend not to exercise. She studied BA Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University (2012), and is currently taking CFOR’s Facilitation for Leaders course (2016-17): facilitating conflict based on principles of process-oriented psychology. Past exhibitions include How Does the Group Function? with moving-image collective LUX13, and Mark Wallinger Presents: The Best of Bow Arts Trust. Past residencies include Summer Lodge 2016 at Nottingham Trent University, the Leverhulme Scholarship at Wysing Arts Centre (2013) and the Lombard Method Graduates Award (2012).
