Forensic pathologist Dr Nariman is a principled virtuous man. When he has an accident with a motorcyclist and his family, and injures his eight-year-old son he pays the motorcyclist compensation and offers to take the child to a nearby clinic.

A few days later, Nariman hears the child’s name among the new arrivals at the morgue where he works. His colleague’s autopsy reveals botulism, the child’s presumed cause of death. The parents, assuming old poultry caused the botulism, are overcome by guilt. However so is Nariman, who inexplicably becomes intent on discovering his own culpability.
