My Friend Dahmer, Dir. Marc Meyers, USA, 2017, 107 mins
Repressed emotions, alienation from family and friends and violent tendencies plagued Jeffrey Dahmer as a disturbed teenage boy, growing up in Ohio in the 1970s. This dark and fateful true story, depicts Dahmer’s early life and the events that lead to his becoming one of the most infamous serial killers in America.
Disney Channel’s Ross Lynch plays the awkward and fragile, yet charismatic Dahmer, who progressively turns into a monster, revealing his manipulative, malicious and unhinged machinations. The film is shot at Dahmer’s actual childhood home and based on former classmate John ‘Derf’ Backderf’s 2012 graphic novel as well as director Marc Meyers’ 2014 Black List script.
