Mansfield 66/67, Dir. P. David Ebersole and Todd Hughes, USA / UK 2017, 84 min.

Jayne Mansfield. Goddess? Genius? Satanist? A true story about the blonde bombshell created to rival Monroe.

Glamorous Hollywood darling Jayne Mansfield, an early Playboy Playmate, nightclub entertainer and singer, captivated audiences across the globe. Her mid-century rise to stardom, marred by her addiction to attention and need for approval from her adoring public, drove her to drugs, alcohol, and a dubious affair with Anton LaVey, the charismatic leader of the Church of Satan. An untimely, fatal car crash in 1967 unleashed a litany of conspiracies. Was it a curse? Did the devil make her do it?

Made to coincide with the 50th anniversary of her death, Mansfield 66/67 is a rapturous film exploring the last two years of Mansfield's life, directed by P. David Ebersole and Todd Hughes (Hit So Hard, Room 237). Featured documentary interviews include artists and filmmakers John Waters, Kenneth Anger and Cheryl Dunne, UK pop star Marilyn and actresses Tippi Hedren and Mamie Van Doren.
