ICA Youth Ambassadors

The ICA is pleased to welcome The Slumflower and GUAP Magazine as the organisation’s first Youth Ambassadors for 2017/18. They will be working in a sustained way across the organisation, advising and collaborating to shape and influence how the ICA can positively impact on young people’s lives.

As participants in the programme, The Slumflower and GUAP will utilise the ICA as a platform to explore and experiment. The Youth Ambassadors are engaging with key topics affecting the youth sector, connecting and socialising with young people across London and developing professional skills through curating, delivering and producing large-scale events as part of the ICA Public Programme.

By prioritizing wider access and increased cultural opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds, the Youth Ambassador programme embodies the ICA’s commitment to realize aims surrounding diversity in all the work that we do.

The Slumflower aka Chidera Eggurue

An award-winning style blogger and speaker from Peckham, The Slumflower has amassed a large following through opening up important dialogues that young people often struggle to have, including topics such as body image, dealing with emotions that scare us, the journey to success, and feeling out of place in society. This following has quickly turned into a small community of young people – particularly women of colour. She’s also the creative director of Innclusive, a vacation rental company.

GUAP Magazine, aka Jide Adetunji and Ibrahim Kamara

GUAP Magazine is the World’s First Video Magazine – a revolutionary magazine dedicated to discovering emerging creative talent. It seeks to redefine the norm by presenting the world with a new and unique way to recognise the untold, unseen and unforgettable young talent within music, fashion, arts and business globally. It is the only platform in the UK profiling young urban creatives, making it a feeding ground for creative inspiration and entertainment.
