An affecting documentary portrait born out of an almost two-decade-long friendship between filmmaker Michelle Memran and Cuban-American playwright María Irene Fornés.

Memran and Fornés first met when the filmmaker, then twenty-five, interviewed the playwright about her work, which was, at that point, stalling due to memory loss. As the pair stayed in touch, Memran began to film Fornés with no particular object in mind. Over more than ten years of filming and Fornés’ eventual diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease, the pair collaboratively construct a shared project which poignantly considers memory, friendship, and the profound connection between an artist and her work.
